Dawn Benson is a self-taught mixed media artist based in Saint Charles, Missouri. Her expressive paintings are filled with bold color, energetic lines, and playful symbolism, inviting viewers to rediscover wonder, joy, and hope through art.

Inspired by nature, music, childhood imagination, and the resilience of the human spirit, Dawn creates work that celebrates beauty even in life's imperfect moments. Her paintings encourage viewers to pause, smile, and connect with the emotions that color everyday life.

Her passion for creating is rooted in her own journey. Growing up in a home affected by addiction and later losing her mother to suicide as a teenager, art became a place of refuge, healing, and hope. Those experiences continue to shape her work—not through darkness, but through a desire to create light and to remind others that beauty can emerge from even the most difficult seasons.

Dawn maintains an active studio practice through gallery exhibitions, art festivals, and community events. She has illustrated children's books, painted local murals, and teaches art at Oak Haven Montessori School. She also volunteers at Strong Tower Ranch, where her love of horses, art, and faith helps encourage children and families facing life's challenges.

In addition to her original paintings, Dawn creates studio art greeting cards—small works of art designed to brighten someone's day with beauty, encouragement, and joy.

This equine program offers a place of support and respite for youth facing challenging circumstances, fostering confidence, connection, and healing through interactions with horses. Strong Tower Ranch is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
